Students, researchers, professors, leaders of community projects, government and private sector representatives gathered in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, between May 16 and May 17, 2005 for a workshop and a symposium on the theme of linking research on information and communication technologies (ICTs) to development. The conference analyzed the current barriers and challenges to the increase of research on ICTs in universities and high schools, the impact of research on ICTs on the development of communities, the role of research on ICTs in the Information Society, and privacy and security risks involved in the use of ICTs.
